Russian Brides term has several perceived meanings

The stereotypes associated with the terms “Russian Brides” or “Mail-Order Brides” are extremely negative. These terms also project negativity for a lot of men who might otherwise accept the possibility of finding a spouse through a dating agency. The term “Mail order brides” historically means ordering someone by phone or through a catalog. It implies making almost no effort, except for making a small payment. Most of us do not believe in the ability to buy a relationship or a family. We all know that these important things require a lot of effort and determination. The “mail order bride” stereotype is therefore incorrect. It is not possible to order a family online to be mailed to your address. The internet gives you an opportunity to find someone special anywhere in the world. When you do, you will still have to build your relationship and make sure it works.

The majority of women referred to as “Russian Brides” are, arguably, genuine, sincere and easy-going. They live and work in the real world, they are human beings (not items to order) just as we are. They have established values and morals. They want to find someone to share the rest of their lives with, perhaps just like you do. Most Russian women are determined to develop a strong marriage.

Russian brides who post personal ads on matchmaking or dating web sites are not interested in money or immigration status, albeit the existing stereotypes. They are looking for foreign men (American, British, French, German, etc) to build a long-term relationship and create a family. There are about 10 million more women in Russia than there are men. That’s only 88 men between 100 Russian women. This is one of the reasons why a portion of Russian ladies have to look outside of their country to find a husband, or else they may be destined to remain single! Financial stability and a better future for their children are also two major drivers. But there is nothing wrong with that: if you are to marry a Russian bride these will become your goals too.

American Men and Russian Brides

There many men out there who have had an unpleasant relationship in the past. Most of us have been through that at some point. It is especially true in United States where a high percentage of marriages end up in divorce. It is important to get over the low self-esteem and realize what you may be worth to a Russian woman who appreciates your kindness, intelligence, and warmth. That someone special may as well be two or three clicks away. It can be argued that Russian women are less career-driven that American ladies. At the same time they have stronger family values and are determined to make a relationship work. They are ready to sacrifice less important values. This is not true for all Russian women, but it still hold true for the majority. Therefore, Russian brides are more suitable for marriage. American women are perhaps more suitable for dating.

Ask Russian women why they’re looking for a foreign husband, someone outside of Russia. Some ladies feel that their children would be better off growing up in a more developed Western country. Whilst the living conditions in Russia are higher than in the communist times, the shadow of the Soviet era has only very recently dissipated and, in our opinion, it has not disappeared completely. Older Russian women remember living under a communist dictatorship - some things have not changed. Although the country is now considered a fairly good place to live with lower unemployment rates and much less crime (especially in larger metropolitan cities), it’s still a fact that some are disillusioned with Russia. Other Russian women and Ukraine women cite that there aren’t enough responsible men in Russia. It’s still a custom for Russian men to drink vodka which makes a lot of them heavy drinkers. Some Russian men don’t share values or personal traits of marriage-minded Russian women. Very few men are motivated to work hard to provide for their families blaming the bad government or high unemployment rate.

The future of Russian brides

There are a lot of negative stereotypes attached to Russian brides and Russian dating. This cannot be ignored. International marriages are not as easy as ordering a pizza - there are always cultural and language barriers that can hinder even a very strong relationship. Fraud also is a big issue in Russian Dating and green card and marriage scams do exist. But so do relationships that survive all the above issues. People find each other online and create families. These families just didn’t exist before, families that men could not create with any of the local ladies. Russian brides are known to be good wives and devoted care-takers. This has been an important factor that helped many successful cross-border couples to overcome all the barriers and make their relationships stronger than average.
